About ACYP

Addison County Young Professionals was founded in November of 2009 by Mike Corbett.  The first "unofficial" meeting was actually held at his home in Middlebury in November of 2009 and was attended by his wife and a small group of friends to which he pitched the idea of starting a YP group.  Please contact us for more information.

THE PURPOSE of the group is to attract young, career oriented members and bring them together for the sake of opportunity; be it networking, business development, community service, or just friendship.

THE NEED to retain young professionals and maintain a diverse workforce is evident in Addison County. Many young professionals leave the area for cities with more professional opportunities.

THE BENEFITS of membership include enhancing your resume, networking and business development with other young professionals, becoming more connected to the community in which you live or work, invitations to exclusive ACYP events, and more.

THE COMMITMENT is up to you. There are no mandatory requirements to be part of the group other than valuing your career and being between the age of 21 and 39. You can be as involved as you chose and we do not currently charge membership dues.

THE MEETINGS will be held on the second Wednesday of each month from 5:30pm to 6:30pm or later at varying locations to be announced via email in advance. All meetings will have a mingling/networking component and some may include presentations relevant to the members such as the first time home-buying experience or business etiquette.

THE DIRECTION of the group will be modeled by its members. This will allow it to focus on what is important to the members and adapt as the group grows and changes.

THE GOAL is to grow the membership of the group; two heads are better than one and there is strength in numbers. As the number of active members grows, the group will be able to make greater contributions to the community and provide more benefits to its members.

THE CURRENT MEMBERS include bankers, teachers, business managers, attorneys, town officials, realtors, architects, carpenters, entrepreneurs, and financial planners to mention a few.
